OP:ED Beto O'Rourke Announces That he's Running for Governor of Texas
Does he really have a chance of winning the gubernatorial election?
Earlier today, Beto O’Rourke (or Robert Francis O’Rourke, as that is his real name) announced his gubernatorial run for the 2022 Texas election. He has previously ran for Ted Cruz’s senate seat in 2018. He failed. And he also ran for president in 2019. He also failed. And now he’s running for governor of Texas. Does he really have a chance of winning the gubernatorial race?
In my honest opinion, Beto has no chance of even winning the democratic primary. He is a gun grabbing advocate who believes that certain types of guns should be deemed illegal. This does not sit well with Texas voters since he is running in a red state. When he was running for president in 2019, he has come out staunchly against gun rights and has stated that he will confiscate your AR-15s enthusiastically saying “hell yes!” That marked the end of his presidential campaign as that was met with major disapproval. And as someone who will be moving to Texas next year, and I will be living by myself. I’m going to need a gun to protect myself. And guess what? I will not vote for him!
Another reason why Beto has no chance of even winning the democratic primary is where he stands on certain issues. And I have the link right here for you all to check out on his positions (Beto O`Rourke on the Issues). To sum it up, he is a gun control, green new deal, tax-hiking, anti-business advocate who goes against what the overwhelming voters of Texas believe in.
Beto is running for governor while Biden’s approval rating is at an abysmal low. According to multiple news outlets and Predictit.org, republicans are very likely to take back the house and the senate in the 2022 midterms. This comes after a republican won the governor race of Virginia and the New Jersey governor race was unexpectedly competitive. Overall, the election from two weeks ago was a republican victory across the country. This is bad news for democrats. And for Beto O’Rourke, even if he runs as a moderate democrat, he has absolute no chance of winning the gubernatorial race.
